BookVIP Ripoff

Above all else, providing excellent customer service is our main goal and all of our customer service agents are highly-trained and qualified.

Please be reminded that BookVIP issued you a full refund of monies paid with no penalties due to the circumstances caused by the resort partner’s inability to accommodate you.

All of our special promotional packages are sponsored by the participating resort partner. Because of the high demand for these amazingly affordable vacation packages, every once in awhile, the participating resort discovers that reservations have exceeded the allotment.

Although this happens rarely, it puts BookVIP (as the booking company) in the difficult position of being the bearer of bad news.

You were offered the Holiday Inn Resort Los Cabos, which is not a “chain hotel,” but actually is a four-star resort. The property offers three different ambiances: A quiet adult-only section perfect as a relaxing hide away, an activities section with a big pool where scheduled games and activities take place during the day, and a family section with pool and a special kids playground to get together with your children to have fun in the sun.

We have an A+ rating with Better Business Bureau, send over 100,000 people on vacation per year and have more customer video reviews than any other travel site. http://bookvip.com/sitereviews.

On 12/27/15 we paid $149 deposit for an open booking for Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos until we could coordinate vacation schedules and approvals through our employer. On 1/11/16 I called back, spoke to a supervisor (Lex) and was able to finalize the dates of 2/9 - 2/12 and paid the $150 balance.

I was then told the criteria for the promotional rate: That we'd have to listen to a timeshare presentation and they also asked a series of question to verify that we qualified (which we did). I wasn't thrilled about having to do the presentation but decided I could live with it. We then booked our airfare. On 1/20 I received an email saying to contact them for Urgent Reservation matter.

I spoke with Sharizza and she asked why I was calling, I told her that I got a message to call, so she needs to tell me. She looked at my account and said everything was fine and there was nothing to worry about. Today 1/22, I received the same email message. This time I spoke with Laine and she told me that the dates I had reserved were no longer available and instead offered me the Holiday Inn.

This was not acceptable to me. I booked the Sandos Finisterra specifically because it was actually in Cabos San Lucas, on a beach, within walking distance to marina/town, and is a 4 + star rated hotel. The Holiday Inn isn't even in Cabos San Lucas, but instead over 30 miles away in San Jose which would require a rental car or taxi expense to get to town. It is a chain hotel, and not a "luxury" hotel.

Due to coordination of our work vacations and the fact that we have purchased our plane tickets, rescheduling wasn't an option either. So I asked Laine if I could cancel with a refund. She said if I rebooked with Holiday Inn, then I can not, but I could up until I rebooked because they were not able to give me what I reserved. I then called fiance and discussed our options.

After checking around we were able to reserve another resort in the location we wanted at a much higher rate. I then called back the same day to request they cancel and refund my money. I spoke with Ben, and although he seemed sympathetic, he said he could not refund the money because its been over 7 days since I booked it. The reason I cancelled was because they could not fulfill their agreement when I booked the resort.

If they were able to give me a room at the Sandos Finisterra, I wouldn't have cancelled. This is a part of my vacation budget and I need this $300 for my trip, especially since I'm now paying more for accommodations. And I definitely don't want to let them keep the money towards an open booking and have to go through another experience like this with them.

Attached is a screenshot I had taken of the promotional package that I had purchased and they were not able to give me. Also, I have gone to the site and acted like I was purchasing it again to see the availability dates and my dates are showing available as marked in green on the attached screenshot.

Bookvip - Vacation Package Booking Review from Nashville, Tennessee

We appreciate the opportunity to address your comments.

Our special promotional packages are sponsored by the resorts and the rooms are discounted up to 77% because the resort is subsidizing the room in exchange for your time during the resort preview.

Due to the limited number of packages available, the resort partners set forth certain eligibility requirements to ensure that the packages are enjoyed by the demographic for whom they are designed.

As the booking company, BookVIP must ensure that all guests are eligible for the promotional packages before reservations are made and sent to the participating resort provider.

The Terms and Conditions governing every vacation package can be found at the bottom of each hotel offering page.

BookVIP has thousands of happy travelers every week, and has more video testimonials from happy customers than any other travel website in the world. Please refer to http://bookvipreviews.com/.

Poor customer service

We never actually booked with this company eventually. What seems to be too good to be true often is.

When we tried to make the reservation we suddenly had to tell our whole life history like being vetted for a high security job. Then the dates that had been available suddenly were not and then we were told to expect to sit through a sales presentation that apparently is put in such fine print that you need a microscope to read it.

The representative spoke barely passable English and appeared to be talking from a Zumba class, there was so much background noise. Prices aside there is not much going for this company and I will just say, prepare to be disappointed

Dear Mr. Steen,

I booked an online reservation for 4 days/3 night suite at The Grandview at Las Vegas for $219. However, when I called to confirm the representative misquoted the offer (obviously reading the script for Thursday and not the one that I booked for Wednesday) then RUDELY stated that my reservation would be canceled since I am not traveling with my spouse and hung up in my face as I tried to clarify if this was due to a timeshare presentation requirement which was not advertised.

After seeing a promotional offer on Facebook, I began to read reviews about BookVIP. I read two, the second by a New Yorker dated June 26, 2015 ("FRAUDULENT..."), at which time I determined there was no need to continue.

I have been in customer service 40 years and any establishment that would say to a customer "all of your comments are completely untrue," as well as to be so condescending as to follow that up with " we wish you a wonderful vacation" after ironically talking about their "A+ rating for customer service," is certainly not an entity from whom I'm interested in acquiring a vacation package. I'm happy for those that had no difficulty but no way will I take the risk.

Bookvip Hotel Reservation Review from Miami, Florida

Dear Angela,

We were very surprised to receive your comments as it looks like they were sent just before we resolved the issue.

We immediately responded to the email sent directly to my attention on 1/20 and you were promptly contacted by a supervisor to help you locate a resort for which you were qualified.

After a pleasant conversation, you were sent a personal email listing specific resorts in Orlando which offer promotional packages to Florida residents with debit cards. You were also advised to check the Terms and Conditions listed at the bottom of each resort offering page to ensure you qualified as to income, age, etc. You called later in the day and booked another resort for which you were not qualified.

You were contacted again the following morning and after another pleasant conversation, you agreed to review the resort offerings presented via email yesterday and also agreed to remove your posting.

Unfortunately, at the end of the day, we were unable to assist you because of the qualifications set forth by the resort for the special promotional package and your travel dates.

Bookvip's reply to:

Bookvip in Burlington, North Carolina - They change terms and conditions as they like, I was considering buying so I made sure that I met the qualifications before I hit book on their site, didn't meet the new ones due to age.

Thank you for your feedback.

Upon review of your reservation, we discovered that the resort had made some changes to their eligibility requirements and the Terms and Conditions were being updated. The updated Terms and Conditions were in process but not yet completed on the website when you checked them prior to making your reservation.

That is the reason for the discrepancy between the Terms and Conditions you based your reservation on and the Terms and Conditions you received upon booking.

We immediately contacted you to explain the situation and offered you a wide selection of resort options which were currently available on your travel dates, along with a significant discount.

As of the moment, we are looking forward to your response so we can send you on your vacation as planned.

I pride myself in BookVip offering the most discounted vacation packages and having an A+ rating Better Business Bureau for our customer service.

Preferred solution
Let the company propose a solution

The original terms and conditions required a single female to be 28 min income of 40,000 and 15.00 a night resort fee

The new terms and conditions required single females to be 35, 16.95 a night 5.00 a night taxes (they had already added one tax to to my reservation) and a 350.00 security deposit until you attend their tour.

So no reservations, no offer for a different resort with different terms, and I am now turned off from the whole idea of dealing with people like I just had to on the phone.

It is not worth the hassle to deal with this company.

Bookvip's reply to:

Bookvip in Charlotte, North Carolina - Would not use.

All of our special promotional packages are subsidized up to 77% by the participating resorts, and it is ultimately the decision of the resort to determine whether or not a guest is qualified to participate in the promotional package being offered. Unfortunately, the resort determined you were not eligible for the promotion package you first choose.

A few hours after you booked your dates of January 1, 2016 through January 4, 2016, we were advised by the resort that your reservation would not be accepted. We contacted you immediately and you agreed to change resorts. BookVIP did not charge you for the price difference when you changed resorts.

Your reservation was cancelled due to credit card decline and because you never responded to our many attempts to reach you via telephone, text message and email regarding same. Your original deposit in the amount of $39 has been refunded.

Good customer service

I had submitted a previous poor review of BookVIP that I must straighten out. It appears that the company is a booking company for resorts and they do not set the stipulations and only follow the resorts request.

After posting my complaint the company called and apologized for any misunderstanding. They made sure that the card was not charged and went out of their way to find a new vacation that my elderly parents did qualify for. They were kind and respectable the during the entire transaction and continued to try to be helpful.

thank you to Robyn and the staff at Book VIP. You were very nice to work with and I appreciate your persistence and helpfulness.

Bookvip - Deal Review from Fairhope, Alabama

All of our special promotional packages are based on availability. On certain holidays like Christmas/New Year’s & peak season/March these promotional packages sell-out even faster than usual.

Since your preferred resort was fully booked during your New Year’s travel dates, we we contacted you via email and offered you an equally lovely resort which was available on your travel dates and could accommodate your large family.

Unfortunately, you have not responded to our repeated attempts to contact you to finalize your reservation. Because you never made a formal reservation, your credit card was never charged.

Although time is getting short, if you are still interested in taking your family on a vacation to celebrate the New Year, please feel free to contact me directly. I can be reached at James@bookvip.com.

I think it is a scam.I tried to book a deal on their website. They take your reservation and credit card first.

Then you have to call to confirm. I called to confirm. They did not have any rooms left at the place for that deal. The person was not in United States. Took 10 minutes for her to understand my name and email.

Tried to get me to book at another place with none of the amenities but,at the same price.

Duhhh. No.
