Bookvip Vacation Package Review from San Antonio, Texas

We went in April and we had a fabulous time. Yes we attended a small presentation. Literally it was just us two and the company and we picked our time. Wasn't an inconvienance at all. We had an awesome room as well and our trip was 499 for two people!!

We weren't married yet but had to

Proove we were living together. Simple as that. Notorized letter and addresses matching.

We had a blast looking into another one now!

  • Fix Ot Bookvip Concern

Hello,

Since posting my review BookVIP has reached out and has fixed my issue. I now realize that there was a misunderstanding with my reservation for Secrets Playa Mujeres as the resort reclassified their resort as Ultra Luxury which raised the rate but bookvip has honored the original price at their expense. I am very pleased with their fix.

I sought to remove the post on pissedconsumer but realize that it requires me to say that my original claim was false - which I will not do.

I request that you remove the original posting, but I will not submit a notarized statement saying that my original posting was inaccurate.

Thanks,Micah

Bookvip - Festiva Orlando Review

Dear Crystal,

We appreciate your feedback.

Please note that, although BookVIP is not responsible for your resort choice, as a measure of good faith, we have given you a full refund.

Our special promotional packages are sponsored by the resorts and the rooms are discounted up to 77% because the resort is paying for your room in exchange for your time during the resort preview.

As the booking company, BookVIP’s job is to ensure that all guests are eligible for the promotional packages before reservations are made and sent to the participating resort provider. BookVIP has no control once you are at the resort.

Although your complaint is definitely valid, it belongs more on Trip Advisor about the resort than directly against BookVIP.

We send over 100,000 people on vacation per year and have more customer video reviews than any other travel site: http://bookvip.com/sitereviews.

Book vip is absolutely a scam. The resort my family stayed at was awful.

I complained to the front desk and the manager and they offered no resolution. Do not book with them it is a complete rip-off.

This has been the most amazing trip we ever had. We highly recommend Secrets through BookVIP

The best hotel I have ever stayed in. Everything about this place is superb; the accommodation, beach, pools, entertainment, food, location and staff were much better than expected.

We stayed for a week in the top notch bungalows which were of a high standard and cleaned daily. Eating wise we used every restaurant but preferred the Seaside Grill where we were always well looked after by the staff.

Staff wise all were great but Valentina (in the lobby), Ronnie (seaside restaurant) and Charlie (entertainments) are worth of note. Thank you BookVIP!

It looked like it was to be true with the all inclusive but is has been absolutely amazing. Thanks again BookVIP you are AWESOME!

I’d like to start from the beginning of our planning because I think there is a valuable lesson after going through all the travel options like expedia, orbitz, etc…I was pleasantly surprised that BookVIP offered the best pricing with the promotional package. We got a 6 day 5 night “ALL INCLUSIVE” package at the Villa Del Palmar Resort in Cabo San Lucas.

I chose this hotel because it is the one of the few where the ocean waves are manageable and allow you to enjoy the ocean. Now as far as the eating situation the food was incredible. They have a great pool where they hold functions throughout the day like volleyball, Bingo, arts and crafts, and few others to keep people entertained and the service is A plus. With the “ALL INCLUSIVE” package you can drink as much as want and quality alcohol not 3rd tier booze.

The servers are all pleasant and will go above and beyond to give you what you want.

As far as activities we opted to go with the folks hanging out in the beach where they offer the same functions than the concierge at the hotels does… we went horseback riding along the beach ($15 per person), we went on a banana boat ($15 per person), we went on a glass bottom boat across the ocean towards the arch ($15 per person)…and lastly if you are looking for a great Sea Food Restaurant from a local perspective go to “Tres Islas” AMAZING!!! Thank you our server Jorge Aparicio…he made our family feel comfortable and was always attentive.

It was a great deal and we saved a lot of money so just giving a shout out to BookVIP

This was my Wife and I's first time flying international and to Mexico. Upon landing, headed through Mexico customs which wasn't a problem at all, be sure to fill out the top AND bottom portion of the form either on the plane or while waiting in line. (*Don't stop to fill the form out in the hallway, go straight to the customs line!)

Andres was our concierge and he absolutely made us feel like royalty. A rose for my wife and glasses of champagne. His cheerful attitude was so welcoming and set the tone for our whole trip of first class customer service. He checked in on us daily and any question or needs we had, he had an outstanding graciousness and enthusiasm to help. He is an asset to Sandos and truly cares about his clients. Andres, thank you for making our trip wonderfully amazing.

Breakfast at Zango is ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. By far the best food of any meal. Try the fresh juices.Ivan, thank you for helping me learn and your warm greetings every morning. Ivan's remarkable customer service was absolutely appreciated. For every lunch we ate by the pool at St. Trop, try it all, stick with what you like. We enjoyed the Calamari, Fish Tacos, and nutella crepes! (Was not a fan of the burger) And lots of Blue Hawaiians...haha.

Tip: Bring LOTS of your own sunscreen. In the hotel gift shop it was $22- $24 U.S. NOT exaggerating. If you do forget, there's a little convenience store at the bottom of the hill outside the hotel entrance, literally outside the gate. Also, in the hotel gift shop the designer sunglasses are marked up $50 over retail (source: sunglass hut website) and they have a $50 off coupon, do your due diligence on price.

Cell service: We have Sprint. The hotel Wi-Fi worked great the entire time, it was noticeably fast and seamless. I was able to call sprint for Global cell service so I could text/call without extra fees. Call your phone provider before leaving. No issues using phone.

The Pool and beach wait staff were attentive and friendly. Shout out to Luis (Wuicho!) & Sergio who took great attention to us. We tipped when we were served because they work hard. They don't expect a lot and after talking to a few other guests, I'd recommend a dollar per item ordered or a 5 at the beginning of the day and they'll take care of you. US dollars are well accepted, we did not need any pesos. (Rule of thumb, anytime someone brought me something, I had a least a $1 for them. Budget $60- $80 total for exceptional attentiveness.) Worth it. We are not drinkers but "obliged" at many offers for lots of drinks/shots. No complaints on the drinks or food. It's all included so if we didn't like it we just ordered something else! We ate every lunch by the pool so I cant speak to the lunch options inside.

All my wife and I wanted to do for this vacation was read by the pool, beach, and lounge. What's great is the entertainment staff had activities for us to participate, completely optional and no pressure, but made it fun nonetheless. Shout out to ADAN (in English, Adam), Valeria, Veronica, Liz & Eduardo.

Adan literally remembered our names on first introduction and addressed us with a fun, excited attitude all day, every day. We aren't into yoga but I heard it's great! I did play a lot of water volleyball and had a total blast. We had engaging conversations and Adan, THANK YOU for making our trip UNFORGETTABLE. He is an asset to Sandos and the customer experience.

Valeria is the sweetest and we truly appreciate your kindness throughout the week. Thank you for making us want to come back. Valeria - you're the best!!

My wife had a "Sandos Experience" spa session, it was an 80 minute variety massage they had a special on for $129 US. The Spa accepts pesos or CC ONLY. The Spa is pretty much the only thing you can not pay for with US dollars. It was $4 CC transaction fee to pay the international exchange for spa. She absolutely loved it and said it was better than any Spa/service visited state-side. Highly recommended.

The dinners were excellent, our first night was at Zango (buffet), second was at Seasons - pants required for men. It was a point of contention for some but it's a very upscale feel to the restaurant and does not require a reservation. We ate later, around 8 and it was not busy. The next night was at the Japanese Steakhouse which was delicious. Reservation required for Gaijin (Japanese), it's limited seating and also - Do NOT arrive late, otherwise you're delaying potentially 2-8 other people's meal and can be turned away. Our last night we chose to go outside of the resort to Ruth's Chris steakhouse at the recommendation of a friend. If you do, take the R1 bus, it's $1 per ride/per person and it'll take you into the mall & shopping area as well.

Every night there were AWESOME entertainment events (of course drinks always flowing). Professional dancers one night, Lady Gaga, & FIRE DANCERS!!! Everything was very impressive, as a professional arts background- we were impressed and pleasantly surprised by the quality and diversity of live entertainment. Big points for the Saxophone player also!

The room was beautiful, we were fortunate to get exactly what I requested-king bed with ocean view & balcony. It is a "chic" boutique, classy feel to the rooms which were cleaned and restocked daily. There was construction improvements on the exterior of the building but it looked like they were almost done. I would expect by the end of the month the construction noise will have subsided. It wasn't obtrusive, and there was the resident DJ that played mostly House & Deep House during the day by the pool. We happen to love that genre so it was very enjoyable/relaxing. Hardly audible by the beach in case that's not your style.

The front desk staff will break up your dollars for tip money but dont count on it every day. They're not a bank. Also, if there's something you need, ask your concierge. The concierges seem to be much more helpful for anything other than check in/check out.

Addressing some concerns I read about: The music is music, they added other genres for some time and it didn't ruin the atmosphere in any way. The upper and lower pools were warm, but it's 90 degrees, what do you expect? The middle level pool was noticeably and enjoyable cooler (perhaps because it's larger?) Secrets hotel shadow, we had full sun until about 4p.m or 5p.m at which point half of the pool area was shaded and the other half had sun, after being out since the mid-morning, the shade was welcomed! (I guess winter months have a different location for sun exposure.) The room had very hot water available at all times and the A/C worked very well. The resort is absolutely making progressive improvements towards increasing customer satisfaction and actually implementing many changes based on suggestions made by previous guests.

Thank you Andres, Adan, Ivan, & Valeria for making our second wedding anniversary celebration picture perfect.

I would highly recommend BookVIP& Sandos Luxury Experience Resort.

Bookvip - Scam and ripoff esp. Claire at ext 0247

Dear Carla,

We are sorry that your travel dates could not be accommodated by the Hotel Indigo Alamo and that you were not interested in visiting any other resort.

That being said, please note that your trip was cancelled and your 100% refund was issued within 24-hours of your request for same.

All of our special promotional packages are sponsored by the participating resort partner. Because of the high demand for these amazingly affordable vacation packages, every once in awhile, the participating resort discovers that reservations have exceeded the allotment.

Although this happens rarely, it puts BookVIP (as the booking company) in the difficult position of being the bearer of bad news.

I pride myself in BookVIP offering the most discounted vacation packages and having an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau for our customer service.

Bookvip - False advertisements and lies

Dear Sheila,

We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.
The vacation packages offered by BookVIP are amazingly affordable because the participating resort partner is paying the 70% discount in exchange for your time during the 90-120 minute preview.

It is the resort’s prerogative to schedule the presentations at their discretion and BookVIP has no control over the time or length of the presentation.

In an effort to accommodate you, the resort offered you an alternate tour time, which was also inconvenient for you. It is never possible to tour on the day you leave.

We have made several attempts to reach you to discuss a good faith offer for the misunderstanding and await your response.

We send over 100,000 people on vacation per year and have more customer video reviews than any other travel site: http://bookvip.com/sitereviews.

-booked vacation in Orlando FL

-was clear with the representative that I could not attend a presentation on Saturday, due to a work function

-was told IF the resort booked me for Saturday, I could change it

-received confirmation, tour booked for Saturday

-called resort, told to call back next day

-called resort again, phone lines down "Your call cannot be connected, please try again)

-next day, called again, phones still down

-called a third time, and was told they had no available spots on Sunday and that I should call my marketing company (bookVIP)

-called marketing company, they said they could not do anything. Asked them to intervene on my behalf with the resort

-bookVIP rep placed me on hold and 'called the resort', then told me she got the same answer

-called resort again. was told no one from bookVIP had called them at all.

-asked about a change in time on Saturday, and was told even an earlier time (8AM) would not work because I would not be out of there until 11 AM (90 minutes turns into 3 hours).

-was also told that, since I was checking out on Sunday, I could not do the tour on Sunday anyway (cannot do tour on check-in or check-out days, again, not told this by bookVIP)

I ended up having to book different accommodations at the last minute, and file a dispute with my bank to have the charges reversed due to the lies and fraud.

Unless you have a completely open schedule and can accommodate them (instead of the other way around, as it should be), I would not recommend booking through bookVIP.

Below is my submission to the Better Business Bureau. If anyone is interested in joining a class action law suit please reach to micah.craig1982@gmail.com.

Complaint Description:

Total bait and switch - advertised a package that I bought then said after I purchased plane ticket that I need to pay another $1000 or change hotel. TOTAL BAIT AND SWITCH SCAM WITH TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Entice you with an attractive offer (~$600 for all inclusive stay). Then prior to booking they say we need to pay another $112 for required gratuity fee. Then after booking plane tickets, they call and say we were misquoted the hotel price so we need to either pay another $1000 or find another lesser quality hotel. As a DoD member I plan to broadcast this experience as much as possible with my peers. I sent the email below to try to resolve this complete bait and switch scam, after speaking to someone who said a manager would call us the next day. Instead of calling, we simply received an email stating that our reservation has been "canceled". No mention of the "non-refundable gratuity fee of $112" or even an apology for the two plane tickets ($800+) we purchased and wasted!!! I have complete emails and screenshots of the offer/purchase with details should anyone ask me to provide it. -

Hello, Today I received a call from a "Laki" (sp?, ext 0203) stating that the price for Secrets Playa Mujeres was misquoted to me and that I would have to adjust my reservation to another resort. This is my formal notification to let you know that I am not willing to adjust the resort where we plan to stay - Secrets, Playa Mujeres in Cancun. Per our agreement, summarized in the correspondence below and substantiated with your withdrawal of funds from my checking account, we purchased a stay at Secrets, Playa Mujeres and paid accordingly. We are as such expecting to stay at the resort for which we paid. The only potential recourse for which we could understand is if the resort is unavailable (as described in the terms below ... "In the unlikely event your resort is not available, you will be guaranteed one of these AM Resorts: Unable to list. Please call for options."). We know this not to be the case as we have already booked our stay with the resort. In short - this is my observation, we planned a nice experience for our 10 year wedding anniversary, we recognized an appealing advertisement online for Secrets Playa Mujeres in Cancun and purchased it. We later paid the difference for the entire trip, but were then told we have to pay more than originally planned (inclusive of a $22 gratuity fee per night, which was already debited from our account but was not previously referenced). We purchased plane tickets upon confirming our resort reservations. Then we received a call saying that the original cost was misquoted and that we would have to pay the $1000 difference if we want to stay at the resort we purchased, or we would have to stay at a different, cheaper resort. The irony of this is that someone from VIP spoke to us on the phone saying, "Because this is such a low cost you need to participate in a 90 minute sales pitch" - Really??? This is TOTALLY unacceptable. As I described in our recorded conversation with your staff tonight, I will not accept this. I am incredibly frustrated already, before we even start our trip. I PROMISE you I will more than negate any positive YouTube videos, BBB ratings, or customer reviews you have if I cancel my plane tickets because we did not get what we paid for. I also plan to convey my frustration to the resort itself and will include them in my public feedback if this is not resolved. Finally, I am now keenly concerned that our experience may be compromised as a result of this conflict and I will not accept a sub-par experience as a result - without communicating publicly. This is not my first successful law suit, online critique, or BBB complaint and I am happy to pursue each with persistence further. Bottom Line: You advertise something, I purchase it and buy plane tickets to experience, you later call and say that YOU misquoted the amount (recorded) and tell me I need to find a cheaper resort. This screams SCAM and I don't think it would be difficult for others to appreciate this.

Your Desired Resolution:

Deliver upon what was promised and what we purchased (5 night all inclusive stay at Playa Mujeres, Secrets for the dates requested). If not accommodated by the time we cancel our plane tickets I will absolutely demand a full refund for our plane tickets, the gratuity fee, and the reservation fee - or will pursue small claims court with punitive damages for our headache with them.

Bookvip - Booked a flight to Cancun, Mexico for July 23 to July 30,2106

Dear Sandy,

We at BookVIP feel bad over your definitely preventable situation, however, this is the very first issue we have ever in over 100,000 vacations as on the Terms & Conditions it says you must bring your passports. Also, if you travel internationally anyplace in the world by plane, you MUST have your passport.

We are also very concerned that the TSA and United Airlines allowed you to even get near the gate much less on the plane without passports. As the passport cards you had are only valid for land and sea border crossings, but not getting on a plane.

As per our written Terms and Conditions that you agreed to, the resorts do not offer a refund especially when you were a no-show for the dates you had booked.

You should have received a 100% refund from United Airlines as they should have never let you on the plane. The only reason United Airlines even gave you back 50% was because they mistakenly allowed you to board the plane, If they had stopped you before boarding as they should have, I am sure they would not have given any of your money back.

It definitely is not fair to blame BookVIP over an issue that could had been easily confirmed in a 3 second Google search or phone call to the airline, or while you checked in at the airport.

Very dissatisfied with this company!!!

I booked a flight to Cancun, Mexico for July 23 to July 30, 2016 for my family of 4.

We had passport cards instead of booklets. So, we made it to Cancun airport to be deported that same day due to improper passports.

I called BookVip on July 24th to see what could be done and was told too bad that is your mistake. Nothing is stated anywhere about passport cards..the girl I spoke with had no ideal what passport cards were...so how was she going to help me??

I was told to call United Airlines...because their staff let us board the flight with improper identification.

Bottom line United did give us 1/2 of our money back on 4 airline tickets.

BookVip, you need to educated your staff!!
